- 2007 Toronto Independant Music Awards (TIMA)
Romney was named Best New Country Artist at this year's TIMA's. Her new material melds elements of both modern and roots music, with distinctly haunting textures. It will be featured on her upcoming release "Ramblin' Girl."
- Album Number 2 in the Works
After many inquiries at the live shows, from fans who are wanting to get their hands on tracks like "I Don't Mind Dying" (Romney's tribute to Johnny Cash and June Carter Cash), and "I'll Meet You," we are pleased to leak that Romney is in talks with a UK label in regard to the production of her awaited follow-up to Fill In Your Gray. Stay tuned for details as they emerge.
- Beautiful Days Festival 2005 - Freeborn John Performances
All the three nights of the sold-out festival (10,000 people), featured an 8:30 pm performance of the "mini-rock opera," Freeborn John. Romney was thrilled to be a part of the star-studded cast.
The musical story of John Lilburne, who led the seventeenth century Levellers campaign for freedom of the common man, was written by Rev Hammer and performed with a who's who of UK folk and rock musicians. Romney was invited along by Rev Hammer to perform the role of Mary Overton (originally sung by Eddi Reader on the Cooking Vinyl release), singing a powerful song to protest the jailing of her husband and other members of the Levellers. The cast of the live performance included New Model Army with Phil Johnstone and Harry
S. Fulcher as the core band that provided the solid backing for vocalists who included: Maddy Prior (Steeleye Span), Rory McLeod, Mark Chadwick and Simon Friend (the Levellers), Justin Sullivan (New Model Army), Romney, and Rev Hammer himself.
